Eric C. Nelson established his law practice in 1996 after his graduation from the University of Minnesota Law school in 1994.

Mr. Nelson spent two years as a clerk for the Honorable Lois J. Lang, Judge of District Court. His work primarily consisted of drafting divorce decrees, orders and legal memoranda on a variety of issues pertaining to divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, spousal maintenance, distribution and valuation of property, domestic abuse and harassment, as well as other matters.

Due to his judicial clerkship, Eric C. Nelson acquired a great deal of experience and expertise in family law.

Eric C. Nelson has focused his practice exclusively on family law. He provides services relating to contested and uncontested divorce matters as well as custody matters, including post-decree modification of custody.

Mr. Nelson has also deals with issues regarding child custody, child support, spousal maintenence, parenting time, out-of-state moves, domestic abuse and harassment as well as other miscellaneous family law matters.

Eric C. Nelson received his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1994 after graduating magna cum laude in 1990 from Macalester College, St. Paul MN.

Mr. Nelson is a member of the Family Law sections of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar Associations. He is admitted to all of the courts in the State of Minnesota, as well as the United States Supreme Court.

Eric C. Nelson has written numerous articles on the subject of child support and divorce issues. These articles include: “Legal and Physical Custody”; “Standard for Determining Physical Custody”; “The Importance of Temporary Custody”; “Modification of Physical Custody”; “Property & Debt Allocation in Minnesota Divorce”; “Harassment and Domestic Abuse”; and “Calculating Child Support Obligation in Minnesota”.
