Nevada Property Distribution


In a Nevada divorce, each party will retain any property acquired by them before the marriage or by gift or inheritance. All other property will be divided equally. However, an unequal division may be made if a Nevada divorce Court finds a compelling reason to do so. The property division will be based upon the following factors:

  • the economic circumstances of each spouse at the time the division of property is to become effective;

  • how and by whom the property was acquired;

  • the merits of each spouse; and 

  • the burdens imposed upon either spouse for the benefit of the children.
